April 1-10, 2016 at Arizona Opera, 1636 N Central Ave. New production opens April Fool's Day. Irascible, randy and boastful, John Falstaff concocts a scheme to seduce the wealthy Wives of Windsor and nab their riches. His plot quickly unravels in a series of elaborate pranks as the clever women enlist everyone to outwit the old rascal.
April 2-3, 2016, SAT Parade, step off: 10am from 3rd St at Thomas to 3rd St at Indian School. SAT/SUN Festival, noon to 9pm at Steele Indian School Park, 300 E Indian School Road. Festival attracts over 30,000; features 150+ performances on 5 stages, over 300 food, retail and exhibit vendors, Arts Expo, Health/Wellness Pavilion, KidSpace, YouthZone, VIP Experience + Dance Pavilions.
April 2-3, 2016, at Dorrance Theatre, 2835 East Washington St, Ballet Arizona’s Studio Company - the quintessential story of romance, sorcery, and betrayal centered on one of life’s most recognizable themes – the struggle between good and evil.
April 7-14, 2016. Annual film festival, at Harkins Scottsdale/101 Theatre (7000 E Mayo Blvd), includes feature films, live action shorts, animated shorts, home grown shorts, Arizona shorts and short documentaries, plus the International Horror & Sci-Fi Film Festival. Mid-October, 2016 (TBC),10am-6pm in Heritage Square Park, Downtown Phoenix. Annual celebration of the diversity of the LGBTQ community draws a crowd of over 22,000 friends, families and allies -- the 2nd largest LGBTQ event in the state of Arizona - a free event open to the public. Nearly 150 exhibitors and sponsors plus 2 stages of entertainment throughout the weekend.
January 13-16, 2017 (TBC), Martin Luther King weekend, in Tucson, AZ. Supper, banquet, BBQ, beer bust; frisky, mirthful bears from across the USA, Canada, Mexico, Europe, & beyond relaxing poolside or in the hot tub together for good times in the desert sunshine.
