Closing the season, pianist Vadym Kholodenko performs Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3, known for soaring lyricism and spiky dissonances - his final concert with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra as Artistic Partner. Also: Dvorák’s much-anticipated Symphony No. 9 and Shostakovich’s pyrotechnic Festive Overture.

May 25 - June 10, 2017, Bass Hall. Preliminary - 30 competitors, 45-minute recital to include 4-5 min Marc-André Hamelin commissioned work. Quarterfinal - 20 competitors/ 45-min recital. Semifinal - 12 competitors: Mozart concerto w/ FWSO/ conductor Nicholas McGegan + 60-min recital. Final - 6 competitors piano quintet w/ Brentano String Quartet + Concerto/ FWSO/ Leonard Slatkin.
