Gay Ogunquit

Art Galleries:

For more than 100 years, artists have been attracted to Ogunquit for its beautiful scenery and quaint serenity. The Ogunquit Museum of American Art (open from May-Oct) collects the work of artists who have been inspired by the little village by the ocean. Several smaller galleries nearby also display works for sale by these artists, and Ogunquit can be a great place to find that perfect piece for your home.

Ogunquit Beach and Marginal Way:

The sandy, 5.6-kilometer Ongunquit Beach’s scenery enticed artists to establish the first art colony here in 1898. The historic Marginal Way trail, a beautiful 1.5-kilometer path along the seashore from the Beach to Perkins Cove, has beautiful views. Nearby facilities rent boats or lead tours for deep-sea fishing, whale watching, sailing, and kayaking. Don’t miss your opportunity to taste locally harvested lobster in one of the towns many great restaurants.

Theater:

For more boisterous diversions, the Ogunquit Playhouse is a summer stock theater that brings touring Broadway musicals to the town and has been entertaining visitors for more than 80 years. Seats fill up fast and subscriptions are available if you’re planning to stay the summer
