October 17, 2020, 7pm + 9:30pm. The history of cinema from an LGBTQ+ and feminist perspective. A sweepingly romantic adaptation of the David Henry Hwang play. Primarily concerned with deconstructing colonial notions of works like Giacomo Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, it also plays into Cronenberg’s fascination with repression, misogyny, and the transformation of the flesh.
