Emergency measures in the wake of Covid-19:
Governor Ron DeSantis ordered all bars and nightclubs across Florida to close on March 17 for 30 days, and restricted restaurant occupancy to 50 percent so that patrons would be separated by a distance of at least 1.8 metres. Bars that served food could remain open. On April 18th DeSantis announced that some municipalities could start opening parks and beaches with social distancing.
Outside the cities of Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties, restaurants and retail spaces could allow customers to enter as of May 4th, at 25% capacity, so long as people followed social distancing guidelines. Gov. Ron DeSantis' June 3 Phase II reopening permitted bars and pubs outside these counties to reopen on June 5th, with diminished standing-room occupancy, and restaurants could offer outdoor seating if tables were 6 feet apart. However, on June 26th an Emergency Order by the DBPR secretary suspended all on-premises consumption of alcohol at bars statewide, in response to the recent surge in Florida COVID-19 cases.
Set along the Caloosahatchee River, Fort Myers is one of the most enticing spots along the Gulf of Mexico. The sugary sands of it beaches crawl with handsome, curious men on cruise control. You'll want to have an abundance of sunscreen to slather on at Bunche Beach and Bowman's Beach (the nude beach), while Jaycee Park in nearby Cape Coral is jammed with hot guys exploring nature's gifts.
The summer homes of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford have been preserved and enshrined as museums here. Stories of this inventive duo's "close friendship" still permeate the town's lore.
Paradise is less than a two-hour drive from both Tampa and Fort Lauderdale and a magical three-hour ferry ride from Key West. Fort Myers is no problem to get to, but you may find it difficult to leave.
The Pride SWFL website will keep you up to date on upcoming plans for the early October celebrations in Fort Myers.
Southwest Florida International Airport is the region’s main gateway. There are direct flights into town from the US and abroad, giving Fort Myers an international flavor and enriching the pool of potential amorous adventures. Taxi service, airport hotel shuttle services, and public transportation from LeeTran can get you from the airport to your final destination.
You’re gonna need a car if you want to get around easily but there are buses and trollies. LeeTran, a department of Lee County, operates 18 bus routes and 11 trolley cars. See their website for routes, schedules and fare info.
