Gay Chattanooga

Lookout Mountain:

Lookout Mountain straddles Georgia, Alabama, and the southern border of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The summit, called "High Point" has an elevation of 2,392 feet (729 m) above sea level. The caves of Ruby Falls are within Lookout Mountain - America's deepest cave and largest underground waterfall accessible to the public. The rock formations of the Rock City tourist attraction are on the ridge, reached by the Lookout Mountain Incline Railway, the world's steepest passenger railway. There are great views from the top of the Chattanooga Valley - "see seven states" they say.

Ruby Falls:

An elevator ride deep inside Lookout Mountain begins the trip to Ruby Falls. It's a 15 minute walk past stalactites, stalagmites and underground streams to the 145-foot high underground waterfall in a tall vertical shaft, discovered in 1928. The Ruby Falls cave was formed along with Lookout Mountain, about 200-240 million years ago. The stream, 1120 feet underground, is fed by rainwater and natural springs. Collecting in a pool in the cave floor it continues through the mountain until joining the Tennessee River at the base of Lookout Mountain.
