October 16, 2016 - January 29, 2017. Approximately 60 early paintings, from his 1858 Normandy debut, until 1872 in Argenteuil, on the River Seine near Paris. Through the 1860s the young painter, in his twenties, absorbed and transformed a variety of influences, as lessons of the Barbizon school and mentor Boudin gave way to challenges posed by friends Manet, Pissarro, Renoir and Sisley.
