February 13-23, 2014. Dedicated to showcasing the best in contemporary film. The festival is curated and based on thematic sections, some of which change every year to reflect issues that are gripping the world's - and filmmakers'- imagination.
April, 2014 a special selection of films including Alexandros Avranas' second feature Miss Violence, the disturbing Blackfish and The Armstrong Lie, which tackles the doping scandal around cyclist Lance Armstrong.
Last Sunday in June or first Sunday in July. Annual event since 2003 marking the end of Istanbul Pride week. About 30 people took part in the first Gay Pride Istanbul. Recent marches attract 10,000-30,000 people with a parade from Taksim Square along the length of İstiklal Avenue. See KAOS for updates.
September-November, 2015. A contemporary art exhibition, held every two years in Istanbul since 1987, organised by the İstanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts. The Biennial aims to create a meeting point in the field of visual arts between artists from diverse cultures and the audience.
