Gay Fort Worth

Art Galleries:

Surprisingly, Fort Worth’s small art galleries are home to an impressive collection of works by renowned artists. The Kimbell Art Museum houses paintings by Matisse, Goya, Mondrian and Picasso among others in a spectacular modernist building. The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth has a large permanent collection of American artists (including Jackson Pollack) and many travelling exhibits.

Bass Performance Hall:

Fort Worth’s major arts centre, Bass Performance Hall, has been rated one of the best opera houses in the world for its stunning architecture and fine acoustics. It houses regular opera, orchestra, ballet, comedy, and Broadway musical performances, so whatever your taste, you’ll find a show to enjoy there.

Cowboy Life:

Fort Worth – “Cowtown” to the locals – still has an active ranching and cowboy scene. At the Stockyards on Exchange Street, you can watch the world’s only twice-daily cattle drive, pick up a new Stetson and boots at a western wear shop, and get great Texas barbecue. On weekends, stop by the Stockyards Championship Rodeo at the Cowtown Coliseum for live bull-riding, barrel-racing, calf-roping, and Pawnee Bill’s Wild West Show!
Proving that everything’s bigger in Texas, Billy Bob’s Texas is a massive, three-acre country music venue that boasts the “world’s largest honky-tonk” and hosts the genre’s biggest names every weekend.
If that’s not enough cow for you, you can check out the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, and the National Cowboys of Color Museum.

Cowtown Leathermen:

The website has information on leather events around town that include Leather Knights and bear nights at the Dallas Eagle, gay bingo, and variety show fundraisers for local charities.

Sundance Square:

This 20-block neighborhood of shops, bars, and restaurants is the heart of Fort Worth. Here you’ll find brick-paved sidewalks and historic buildings along with some of the city’s best shopping and cultural events. Year-round, Sundance Square hosts outdoor concerts and festivals, so check the web site to find out what’s happening while you’re there.
