Lake Macbride State Park:

A natural 2,180-acre park of woods and lakes midway between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City (3525 Highway 382 NE, Solon, IA) in the valleys of Mill and Jordan Creeks. Facilities include: picnicking shelters, two campgrounds, firewood sales, miles of trails around the lake; summer bird watching, cycling trails, beach swimming, showers/restrooms, boating, kayaking and canoeing (all with rentals available), water skiing, fishing; winter cross-country skiing, and snowmobile trails. A golf course is less than a mile away. Lake Macbride State Park is 14 miles north on Highway 1 from Iowa City, or 12 miles south of Cedar Rapids via County Road W6E.

Local History:

The Carl & Mary Koehler History Center has been preserving and showcasing the history of Linn County for more than 40 years. Exhibits focus on Native American culture, immigration, agriculture, local industry, and important local people.
The city also hosts an African American Historical Museum and Cultural Centre focussing on Black culture in Iowa.

Orchestra Iowa:

Having been in continuous operation since 1921, Orchestra Iowa is one of the oldest symphony orchestras west of the Mississippi River. This professional organization gives more than 100 performances around Eastern Iowa every year, with regular performances at the Paramount Theatre, Sinclair Auditorium, the Englert Theatre, and US Cellular Centre.
