Denia Festa Major 2021 - Bulls to the Sea

July 3-11, 2021 (TBC) in Denia, south of Valencia City. Festa Major a Sangre de Nuestro Señor. Processions, parade floats, concerts, sardines and beer, fireworks. Harbor-side bull run featuring men and youths, chased by bulls, jumping into the sea to escape, with some bulls falling in after them. Also: Mar 15-19, 2021 Fallas; mid-Aug (4 days) Moros i Cristians/ Sant Roc.

April 24-26, 2021, Alcoi (Alcoy) between Valencia/ Alicante. Moors and Christians mock battle each spring honoring Saint George. The Harvest Festival of Requena
Fiesta de la Vendimia - Cancelled due to Covid-19

Last week in August, 2021 - eleven-day annual festival of wine in the streets of Requena, a short train ride west from Valencia; booths with wine samples from the local vineyards. Locals of all ages parade the streets in costumes, dancing and singing.

August 25, 2021, late morning in the streets of Buñol, Valencia. Young, international crowd packed tight in the narrow street, throwing tons of ripe tomatoes at one another; shirts, shoes lost/ripped off, everything pink, eye-stinging fun. Before/after drinking parties in park, streets, bars. Take train from Valencia. Allow plenty of time for return because trains fill up fast.

March 1-19, 2022. Twenty days of mascletás fireworks at Plaça de l'Ajuntament. March 15th erections of giant Fallas figurines + daily local mascletás across the city. Artful, ironic, satiric, they are torched at La Cremà, the March 19th finale. Parades, nit del foc, ofrenda flowers, and firecrackers everywhere.

Moviments Urbans will fill areas of Torres de Serranos, Plaza de l'Almoina and Mercado de Russafa with color and movement; 10-20min choreographies: Cos a cos (Fil d'arena company), Voces (Dunatacá company) and Dual Selfie (Valencia Dancing Forward).
