Late February, 2018, The Rose Ball, at Kursalon, Johannesgasse 33. The annual queer party with anything-goes, dressed or undressed but always fabulous, tuxedos to gowns, never just casual, mocking yet mirroring the grand ball tradition of Vienna in a baroque palace; with DJs, thumping house music, divas and go-go boys dancing 'til dawn.
March, 2018, in Sölden, Austria. 19-year party tradition/ ultimate gay ski event, hundreds of queers from across Europe. Early June, 2018 (TBC). The last Life Ball took place at Vienna City Hall. Glamorous annual ball to benefit HIV / AIDS charities - in 2018 will be the 23rd anniversay event/ theater/ vaudeville/ circus/ fashion show/ fancy dress costume party. Opening ceremony typically attracts over 40,000 visitors for the big show on the huge Red Ribbon stage - live and free. See website for updates.
June 15-16, 2018 (TBC) - Saturday Rainbow Parade 2pm from Rathausplatz and back for 6pm closing rally, 100,000 participants expected. Big dance parties around town later that night.
June 29 - September 2, 2018 (TBC). Annual 7-week Rathausplatz open-air cinema. Films at dusk// 9pm. Featuring classical music, opera, dance, reggae, jazz, pop, rock, Latin, showtunes, experimental in unique and rarely shown film and documentary productions. Daytime food treats from around the world provided by the city's best restaurateurs, each day 11am to midnight. Free admission.
August 17 - September 9, 2018 (TBC), Wolkenturm. Annual standout in music; world-class orchestras conducted by grand masters such as Valery Gergiev, Semyon Bychkov or Daniel Harding at the Wolkenturm and the Auditorium. Artists such as Diana Damrau, Piotr Beczała, Virtuose Maxim Vengerov or Rudolf Buchbinder fill the castle grounds with melodies from the greatest of the classical works.
