February 20-26, 2020. Two million people, 7 days, all-night pipoca street dancing, or secure abada areas with Trio/Bloco groups, watch from camarote cabins. The Circuito Dodo, (known as Barra/ Ondina) is among the most popular.
June 13-24 + 29, 2020. Celebrations in Pelourinho, Salvador and more towns throughout Bahia celebrating the birth of St John the Baptist. The celebrations follow from Midsummer Solstice festivities that predate Christianity. Here celebrations begin the Brazilian winter throughout much of the month of June, with parades, fireworks, bonfires, concerts, folk dancing and costumed parades.
Early September, 2020 (TBC) - annual events in the Campo Grande district; 11am parade from Praça do Campo Grande, down Av. 7 de Setembro, past St. Benedict, through Castro Alves Sq, Rua Carlos Gomes, & Senator Costa Pinto, to the front of the former Tropical Hotel Bahia.
