The Alcázar castle and palace complex, built during the Moorish Almohad dynasty, is one of the most beautiful in Spain, and an outstanding example of mudéjar architecture. The city's historical evolution over the past millennium is represented within these walls and gardens, with influences dating not only from the Arabic period, but also late Middle Ages Mudéjar times, through the Renaissance and Baroque eras, right up to our own times.

Upper levels of the Alcázar are still used by the royal family as the official Seville residence; one of the oldest palaces in Europe still in regular use.

Regular price tickets cost 9.50€. Daily visiting times are 9:30am to 5pm October through March, and 9:30am to 7pm April through September; closed Christmas, New Year's Day, Three Kings Day and Good Friday holidays.

The Cathedral of Saint Mary is the largest Gothic cathedral and the third-largest church in the world. Apon completion in the early 16th century, the cathedral supplanted Hagia Sophia as the largest cathedral in the world, a title the Byzantine church held for nearly a thousand years. Two churches are larger, the Basilica of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Aparecida and St Peter's Basilica, but they are not the seats of bishops.

Built to demonstrate the wealth of the city after it became a major trading center in years following the Reconquista in 1248, the cathedral is also the burial site of Christopher Columbus, who by opening the Americas to Spanish conquest, helped make the city even richer as gold of the New World gold arrived here.
