Tree Sculptures & Art Galleries:

Many East End neighborhood yards have tree stump sculptures created by local artists from remains of arboreal casualties of Hurricane Ike. Maps that highlight their locations are distributed in downtown businesses to plan your hike or bike trip to see them.

A cluster of commercial galleries and studio spaces downtown have exhibits and sales of the works of local artists. Painter Rene Wiley has one at 2128 Post Office Street, and lists 18 more in her informative arts column in the Galveston Parrot  monthly - see it online. Every 6 to 8 weeks ArtWalk is sponsored by the Galveston Arts Center, visiting many of these spaces.
