February 8-13, 2018, the all-gay edition of Mardi Gras runs all weekend; non-stop parties/balls; the French Quarter coronation of the King Cake Queen. Gay balls begin in January. February 13, 2018, 10am-2pm, from Bud Rip's, 900 Piety St. Known for their elaborate/ beautiful costumes, the core group gathers in the Bywater neighborhood each Mardi Gras morning, with the music by the Storyville Stompers brass band. Passing through the Faubourg Marigny and the French Quarter, the parade is joined by additional marchers in costume.
