Once called the "Wall Street of the Southwest," Galveston's famed Strand, anchors the historic downtown. A National Historic Landmark with an outstanding collection of 19th century architecture, it's the heart of a vibrant downtown and waterfront offering shopping, dining, museums, entertainment, accommodations and nightlife. December 2021. Dickens On The Strand. Santa Train at the Railroad Museum. Holiday Lights & Magic in the Park and Santa On The Strand.

February 18 - March 1, 2022. The third largest Mardi Gras celebration in the USA, normally offers the chance to experience sand between your toes and gorgeous beach sunsets while taking in the revelry and lavish parades known to dominate Galveston Island during carnival season. The island’s 110th Mardi Gras celebration, was cancelled in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
